Catelyn Riley Named SEC Co-Pitcher of the Week, Audrey Vandagriff Freshman of the Week
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama earned a pair of SEC softball honors Tuesday following a series win over Oklahoma, with senior Catelyn Riley named SEC Co-Pitcher of the Week and freshman Audrey Vandagriff selected as SEC Freshman of the Week.
The weekly honors are the first of the season for Alabama and the first career accolades for both Riley and Vandagriff. The awards improve Alabama's all-time totals to 55 Pitcher of the Week honors and 28 Freshman of the Week honors.
Riley allowed just one run over 13.2 innings pitched across two appearances vs. the Sooners, including a complete-game win in Monday's extra-inning victory to secure the series. The 8.0 innings pitched is a career high for the senior and her five strikeouts ties her season best mark. Vandagriff batted .400 (4-for-10) over the weekend, going 3-for-4 in the deciding game three. She scored both of the Crimson Tide's runs in the 2-1 win, including the game winning walk-off home run in the bottom of the eighth. The Bogart, Ga., native also stole her NCAA-leading 46th stolen base of the season in Monday's victory
