No. 21 Alabama Captures 4-0 Sweeps Over Mississippi State and Georgia State

The Crimson Tide secured its sixth and seventh win of the season including their first victory in SEC play
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – After opening the day with a 4-0 clinch over Southeastern Conference foes, Mississippi State, the No. 21 Alabama women's tennis team captured its second 4-0 sweep over Georgia State on Sunday.
The Crimson Tide (7-2) won the doubles point in both matches, paced by a two-win day from the pairings of Maria Andrienko and Maria Martinez Vaquero and Sara Nayar and Klara Milicevic. Milicevic captured a pair of singles wins on court three, while Andrienko secured two matches, including the winning point against Georgia State. Martinez Vaquero also won a singles match that contributed to the win over GSU.
Match Notes:
- Sara Nayar and Klara Milicevic secured the doubles point against both Mississippi State (9-1) and against Georgia State (0-4)
- The duo defeated Alessia Tagliente and Emma Cohen of Mississippi State 6-2, before downing Sara Radojevic and Luciana Galvez of Georgia State, 6-1
- The doubles paring of Petra Sedlackova and Margaux Maquet won the first doubles
match against GSU, 6-1, while their match against MSU went unfinished at 5-2 - In singles, Sedlackova got the first point against Mississippi State due to a retirement as the match stood at 4-0
- Alabama then clinched the match with wins by Maria Andrienko and Milicevic on courts two and three, respectfully
- In the second match of the day Martinez Vaquero cruised to a 6-0, 6-3 victory, while Andrienko got the match winning point after defeating GSU's Radojevic, 6-3, 6-4
- Milicevic jumped out to an early set lead and then won a hard fought second set victory to earn her second win on court three, 6-0, 7-5
