Head Coach Kristy Curry Comments
"It was a great win. A lot of how we won the game, is how the senior class is, and the kind of people they are and character that they exude. When it got hard, they embraced hard. I just am so incredibly proud of the win today. We had an amazing crowd and an opportunity today to play for something bigger than basketball, to raise awareness for women's cancers and awareness for our power of pink and what that initiative in this community is about. We're so proud to be a part of it today, and our play for Kay [Yow] and everything that Coach Yow has done. We just want everyone here to know how much we appreciate their support today. What an incredible environment, and just so happy for our senior class
Well, it's been amazing to have an opportunity to Aaliyah [Nye] and watch her grow as a person and her belief in Alabama. I think her staying here a year ago said a lot because she chose to come back and represent Alabama. It was always about Alabama and was always about the front of her chest, which is unique in this day and time. To see her break that record, she truly deserves it. They were picture perfect today when Sarah Ashlee [Barker] facilitated and found her, it was so selfless. That's what this team is about. There have been so many great three-point shooters in this program, but to do that in three years, I want y'all to think about that in three years, not four years. The work that she puts in beyond practice and the time that she shoots when nobody's watching. I can't tell you how many times she's texted Kelly [Curry] the past three years to come early, stay late on this day. It's been amazing to watch and every little girl who wants to become a good shooter should watch her. She's an incredible person. She's an incredible player, and I cannot wait to watch her future, because she's getting her MBA. So she's a star."
