Despite a slow start on vault, the Crimson Tide rattled off season-high rotation scores on bars, beam and floor, in addition to posting meet-high scores on both bars and floor
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The No. 17 Alabama gymnastics program posted a season-high team score of 197.350 at its annual Power of Pink meet. Despite a slow start on vault, the Crimson Tide rattled off season-high rotation scores on bars (49.450), beam (49.375) and floor (49.600). Additionally, the team posted meet-high scores on bars and floor, while tying Auburn (10-3, 3-2 SEC) on beam who ultimately defeated Alabama (3-6, 0-6 SEC) 197.750-197.350.
Six gymnasts either scored a career high or tied their career high, while another four gymnasts either tied or bettered their season-high scores. Additionally, six different gymnasts posted 10 scores of 9.900 or higher. UA veteran duo Gabby Gladieux (beam – 9.925; floor – 9.950) and Lilly Hudson (floor – 9.950) earned a combined share of three event titles. Gladieux picked up her first beam title of the season, before sharing the floor title with Hudson. Gladieux now has nine titles on the year, as Hudson has two-straight on floor to move her season-total to eight.
Alabama Head Coach Ashley Johnston Said
"After each meet this season, we go to our locker room and do a quick debrief of what went well – how can we improve, and what is that going to look like? The first thing I can think of is that we are going to be, and are proving to be, one of the most resilient teams in the country. We've had a lot of adversity over the last few weeks and months, and this team continues to battle.
"I'm proud of them, even after the first event that sort of felt like we got a flat tire. It's really tough in that moment [after VT, before UB warmups] to have a voice speaking into the moment and to overcome it. I'm really proud of the squad for doing that organically. We say 'coach-led teams are good and athlete-led teams are great,' and I think, in that moment, they showed that they can be great. They lit a fire, they figured out what they needed to do and they settled in and did a great job on bars, beam and floor."

Additional Comments from Johnston
"I also want to highlight Power of Pink. I hope everybody - our community, our fans – sees that our program is rooted in giving back, in serving and in using our platform to really make a difference. Tonight was such a special night – I just think it's a testament to what [Sarah and David Patterson] have built, and what our program is built on. I promise you, this team's not done; they're just getting started. I love that Lilly [Hudson] said, 'it's just a slightly different timeline than what we initially had planned.' I task our community, our fans, the people that have been a part of this program, to believe in these ladies. They put their heart and soul out there, they're giving it everything they have, and I'm excited to see them write this comeback story."
