Alabama’s Bell, Winter Named to SEC Community Service Team

The Crimson Tide swimmers serve as leaders both in the pool and in the community
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama swimmers Drayden Bell and Kailyn Winter were named to the Southeastern Conference Community Service Team, the league office announced Tuesday.
Both Bell and Winter have volunteered with several organizations throughout their time with the Crimson Tide and have served as leaders within the community.
Drayden Bell
- Works with United Cerebral Palsy of West Alabama every Tuesday, helping individuals with disabilities become more active through games and sports
- As an athlete advisor/mentor, has aided and guided student-athletes with mental struggles, helping to improve their mindset
- One of the creators for Froz-Øne Swim, an organization that promotes minorities in swimming through a podcast that shares stories and experiences
- Worked with Wichita KanSwim, teaching kids from his home community different skills and drills to help them improve their overall performance
- Mentors at Matthews Elementary, improving student behavior and academic performance
- Greets new and current members at Church of Highlands
- Helps to film the Alabama's swimming and diving team's Red Man Group, a group that attends sporting events for the Crimson Tide with members painted in red body paint
Kailyn Winter
- For the past three years, has volunteered with DCH Hospital in Tuscaloosa, working as a triage volunteer
- Additionally, served as a nursing station volunteer and a home medical device volunteer in 2023
- Role at DCH allowed her to assist nurses with patient vitals, move patients, translate for Spanish only speakers and assist with medical procedures
- Volunteered at West Alabama Food Bank where she packed meals for elderly Alabama citizens
- Coached for Quicksilver Swimming, leading a youth team and aiding in strength training
- Served as an assistant for game and tournament operations for Alabama Adapted Athletics
- Active member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) at Alabama
