
Labaron Philon Jr. Named to the Oscar Robertson Trophy Watch List

Annual award recognizes the top player in all of college basketball
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama men's basketball guard Labaron Philon Jr. is one of 50 candidates selected to the 2025-26 Oscar Robertson Trophy Preseason Watch List, the U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) announced.
Since the 1958-59 season, the USBWA has named a men's national player of the year and since the 1997-98 season the award has been named for the "Big O," the legendary hall of famer and two-time USBWA Player of the Year. It is the nation's oldest award and the only one named after a former player.

- In addition to the Naismith Award, Philon Jr. was one of five SEC players to be named to the NABC Player of the Year Watch List

- Averaged 10.6 points, 3.3 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.4 steals per game during his freshman campaign
- Ranked No. 8 in the SEC in assists and No. 4 in assist/turnover ratio (2.2) last season
- Was a 2025 SEC All-Freshman Team honoree, becoming the eighth UA freshman to receive the honor under Coach Oats
