The Crimson Tide saw a brace from Gianna Paul and a goal from Maddie Padelski in the match
STANFORD, Ala. - The Alabama soccer team (11-9-2) fell 7-3 to top-ranked Stanford (18-1-2) on Friday, concluding the 2025 season in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The match marked the fourth time in five years that UA had reached the second round of the tournament.
A brace from Gianna Paul highlighted the night as Maddie Padelski added to the Tide's scoreline. The three goals by UA were a season high by an opposing team against the Cardinal.
In goal, Coralie Lallier notched a career-high 15 saves in the match, which included 10 in the second half.
From Head Coach Wes Hart
"Proud of the effort and fight we showed tonight against what I believe is the best team in the country. We showed a lot of grit and resiliency battling back from 1-0 and 2-1 deficits and getting a goal back after going down 4-2. In the end, they were just too much for us.
"I don't want this to take away from another good season for Alabama soccer. This is the fourth time in five years that we've been to the second round or further in the NCAA Tournament. I don't think a lot of programs can say that. I hate that it ended this way for the seniors, who have been so important for us. We are going to miss them. I'm so grateful for everything they have given this program."
How It HappenedÂ
- Stanford struck first, finding a goal from Jasmine Aikey in the fourth minute of action
- A through ball played down the line from Larkin Thomason to Kiley Kukan set up UA's first goal, as Kukan centered the ball across the goal for Gianna Paul to finish
- Andrea Kitahata (17:41) gave Stanford the lead, but Maddie Padelski would race towards the net in the 34th minute to once again tie the game, 2-2Â
- Just before the break, Elise Evans scored off a corner kick to give Stanford a 3-2 lead heading into half time
- Evans would again score off a corner kick, finding the back of the net in the 48th minute
- A shot from distance by Paul (53:33) sailed into the upper left corner to bring the Tide within one but goals from Aikey (73:27), Y-Lan Nguyen (87:01) and Allie Montoya (89:48) rounded out the gameÂ
- The three goals by the Tide were a season high against the Cardinal
