The match closed the regular season as the Tide readies for the Southeastern Conference Tournament
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. –– The Alabama soccer team (10-7-1, 4-6-0 SEC) fell in a tough 1-0 battle to No. 14 Tennessee (12-2-3, 6-2-2 SEC) on the road Sunday as the Crimson Tide closed the regular season.
The two teams fought through an evenly matched first half as the Tide and Volunteers entered the break with a 0-0 score. Tennessee found its lone goal in the 56th minute as a corner kick found its way to Kate Runyon inside the six-yard box.
From Head Coach Wes Hart
"Obviously disappointed and frustrated with the result, but super proud of our effort today. Due to four national team call ups and a couple of injuries we sustained this week, we were left short-handed, which caused us to have to adjust our tactics. I felt the team executed the plan tremendously well. We kept it close and pushed the final 15 minutes and were able to create some good looks. Unfortunately, we just couldn't get one to fall."
