Belcher, Thompson to Compete with U.S. U19/U18 National Team

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. –– Alabama's Olivia Belcher and Paige Thompson will travel with the U.S. U19/18 Women's National Team to Portugal to compete in a training camp and a pair of matches, Oct. 20-29, against the Republic of Ireland and Portugal, the United States National Team announced Friday.

The USA will face the Republic of Ireland's U-19s on Oct. 25 and Portugal's U-19s on Oct. 28, with both games taking place in Setubal, Portugal, just south of Lisbon.

Alabama is one of five universities to have players named to the youth national camp and the only program to have two competitors.

Both Belcher and Thompson have worked their way into the Tide's starting lineup, with Belcher starting the last four games and Thompson earning the start in three of the last four
Thompson has started a total of six games over the course of the season and has tallied two assists, aiding goals against Mercer and Michigan
Competing on the defensive side of the ball, Belcher has helped the Tide record four shutouts
The duo has seen time in all 16 games for Alabama and helped contribute to the Tide's fifth consecutive 10-plus win season
