Former Alabama players make an impact in Week 4 of the NFL season
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The National Football league concluded Week 4 of the regular season Monday evening. Below is a look at how former Alabama players performed on the gridiron last week.
Running back Josh Jacobs had one of his best outings of the young season in primetime on Sunday night for the Green Bay Packers. The three-time Pro Bowler totaled 22 carries for a season-high 86 yards and two touchdowns to go along with four receptions for a season-best 71 yards in a 40-40 tie with the Dallas Cowboys. Fellow running back Jahmyr Gibbs notched 15 carries for 91 yards and a touchdown, adding two catches for six yards to help the Detroit Lions to a 34-10 win over the Cleveland Browns.
Quarterback Jalen Hurts played a significant role in a hard-fought 31-25 victory for the Philadelphia Eagles over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Hurts completed 15-of-24 passes for 130 yards and two touchdowns while also contributing 62 yards on the ground across nine carries. Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa led his squad to a 27-21 victory over the New York Jets on Monday Night Football, completing 17-of-25 passes for 177 yards and two touchdowns. One of Tagovailoa's primary targets was teammate Jaylen Waddle, who hauled in three receptions for 48 yards in the win over the Jets.
Defensively, cornerback Josh Jobe helped lift the Seattle Seahawks over the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday night as the fourth-year veteran totaled five tackles, a half sack, one quarterback hurry and a pass deflection in the 23-20 victory. Kool-Aid McKinstry also had a solid day in coverage for the New Orleans Saints, picking up seven tackles against the Buffalo Bills.
Up front, Minnesota Vikings' defensive lineman Jonathan Allen recorded five tackles, including one tackle for loss, in Dublin, Ireland, on Sunday morning. A'Shawn Robinson of the Carolina Panthers had a similarly productive day, matching his season-high with six tackles against the New England Patriots.
Continuing to shine on defense for the Eagles was rookie linebacker Jihaad Campbell who recorded the first interception of his NFL career. Campbell also had four tackles and a pass deflection to go along with the takeaway.
