
Alabama Swimming and Diving Falls in Regular Season Finale to Auburn

Leonardo Alcantara bettered his school record in the 1,000 freestyle to highlight the day’s events
AUBURN, Ala. – The No. 19 men's and 15th ranked women's Alabama swimming and diving team fell to No. 15/21 Auburn on Friday in the Tide's regular season finale.
Leonardo Alcantara highlighted the day with a school record in the men's 1000 freestyle, bettering his time by two tenths of a second with an 8:53.60.
Despite the loss, Alabama saw 13 first-place finishes. Liberty Williams, Avery Wiseman and Kaique Alves won a pair of individual events, while Charlie Hawke, Cadence Vincent, Emily Jones, Diana Petkova and Lance Johnson tallied an event win. Additionally, the women's 200 medley relay team of Emily Jones, Kasia Norman, Jada Scott and Vincent secured a first-place finish while Adam Varga, Hawke, Alves and Toni Dragoja topped the men's 400 freestyle relay.
Alabama fell 162-138 on the women's side of competition, while the Tide men dropped 177.5-122.5 to the Tigers.
Meet Highlights
- Liberty Williams dominated the 1,000 freestyle by over five and a half seconds, securing a 9:44.66 for the top time, before pacing the Tide in a 1-2 finish in the 500 freestyle as she claimed first with a time of 4:44.57 followed by a 4:46.49 from Mackenzie Brandt in second
- Charlie Hawke paced a 1-2 finish in the 200 freestyle as he recorded a 1:33.08, while Toni Dragoja captured a 1:34.40 for second
- Alabama swept the men's and women's 100 breaststroke with Avery Wiseman (59.14), Diana Petkova (59.77) and Kasia Norman (1:00.22) going 1-2-3 in the women's event and Alves (52.69), Trey Sheils (53.40) and Michael Deans (53.71) taking the top three spots on the men's side
- Wiseman would win her second individual event moments later, posting a 2:09.66 in the 200 breaststroke
- Alves and Dragoja finished 1-2 in the 100 freestyle with Alves recording a 42.71 for his second first-place finish at the meet and Dragoja recorded a 43.06 to place second
- Cadence Vincent edged the 50 freestyle, winning the event by two tenths of a second with a 22.05
- In the 200 backstroke, Emily Jones won the event with a 1:55.23, while Diana Petkova won the 200 individual medley with a time of 1:58.77
- Alabama recorded another 1-2 finish as Lance Johnson and Noah Saylor finished with a 1:55.08 and 1:56.70, respectively, in the 200 breaststroke
- The men's 400 freestyle relay team would claim the top time, 2:49.00, by over two seconds, while the women's 200 medley relay team out touched the pool by four tenths of a second with a 1:35.20
- Brooklyn O'Day would record a career-best 308.93 on the 3m board to pace the Crimson Tide divers
