The women’s 200 freestyle relay team highlighted the day by shattering the Alabama Aquatic Center record in the event
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The women's 200 freestyle relay team highlighted the Alabama swimming and diving team in a loss against Tennessee on Saturday.
The Crimson Tide women, ranked 15th, fell 190-109 to fifth-ranked Tennessee, while the No. 15 Alabama men's team recorded a 189-111 loss to the No. 9 Volunteers.
The day was highlighted by an Alabama Aquatic Center record from the women's 200 freestyle relay team of Cadence Vincent, Charlotte Rosendale, Jada Scott and Kailyn Winter. Overall, Alabama won seven events paced by Charlie Hawke's victories in the 200 and 500 freestyle. Additionally, Leonardo Alcantara (1000 free), Emily Jones (100 backstroke), Tommy Hagar (200 backstroke) and Avery Wiseman (200 breaststroke) recorded first-place finishes.
From Head Coach Margo Geer
"After a great month of training, we're excited to be back competing, especially at home. We had some strong performances today including a facility record by the women's 200 free relay. We continue to build towards postseason. We'll have one more regular season meet at Auburn at the end of the month before the SEC Championships.
"It was great to recognize our seniors and graduate students today. These 16 athletes have made a positive impact on this program and have helped to shape our team. We still have a lot of competition and training left, and I can't wait to see them finish their collegiate careers strong."
