
Alabama Falls to Auburn Sunday on the Road in Four Sets

AUBURN, Ala. – Alabama took a hard-fought loss in four sets Sunday afternoon to conference rival Auburn by set scores of 19-25, 25-15, 27-29 and 22-25.
Alabama (8-5, 0-2 SEC) scored the first point of set one but Auburn (12-1, 2-0 SEC) quickly responded with four unanswered and remained ahead for the rest of the frame, eventually winning 25-19. The Crimson Tide got off to a hot start in set two, leading 5-1 before the Tigers were forced to burn an early timeout and 11-4 when they took their second. Alabama took a double-digit lead at 15-5 and would win by the same margin, 25-15, to even the match at 1-1.
Set three was a back-and-forth affair, with a Tiger kill from Lakin Laurendine tying the score for a ninth time at 16-16. Each team spent a timeout before the score was knotted up again at 19-19. Alabama reached set point twice at 24-22 and 25-24 but could not put Auburn away and the Tigers took advantage, battling to take the set, 29-27, and a 2-1 match lead. Auburn scored three in a row to start the fourth and remained in front until a late push from the Tide evened it at 22-22 after a kill from Chaise Campbell. Auburn then ended the match with three straight points to take the fourth set, 25-22.

- Callie Kieffer earned her second consecutive double-double with 19 assists and a career-best 14 digs
- Sophie Agee led the team with 19 kills, giving her 10+ kills in 11 of the Tide's 13 matches
- Paris Thompson earned a season-best 16 kills
- Kaleigh Palmer started in her first appearance of the season for the Crimson Tide after a preseason injury, having started 22 matches last season as a freshman
