
Alabama Swimming Opens 2024-25 Season on Road Against Delta State

The meet between the Crimson Tide and the Statesmen is set for a 1 p.m. CT start in Cleveland, Miss.
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama swimming team returns to action Friday, opening the 2024-25 season on the road against Delta State.
The Meet
- Date: Friday, Sept. 27

Vs. Delta State
- The Alabama men have faced the Statesmen in the season opener every year since the 2012-13 season with the exception of the 2020 COVID pandemic year
- In that same span, the Crimson Tide women have opened 10 of 12 seasons against Delta State
- Alabama won last year's matchup with the women taking a 249-50 victory while the men's team defeated the Statesmen with a 237-59 score
The Tide
- Alabama will look to continue its success in the water, building off a top-25 finish on both sides at last year's NCAA Championships
- The women placed 23rd, marking the fourth-straight year of a top-25 finish at the national meet
- The men finished 19th overall, UA's 10th-straight year in the top 20
- The Tide returns all of its points scorers from the NCAA Championships meet, welcoming back 2024 All-Americans Leonardo Alcantara, Kaique Alves, Tommy Hagar, Charlie Hawke, Tim Korstanje and Zarek Wilson on the men's team and Diana Pekova, Gaby Van Brunt, Cadence Vincent, Kailyn Winter and Avery Wisemen on the women's side
- Additionally, Alabama retained 80 percent of its points scorers from the women's Southeastern Conference Championships and 88 percent from the men's conference championships
- In addition to an already strong roster, the Tide welcomes 19 new faces to the 2024-25 roster
- Kyle Micallef highlights the new additions, coming off his Olympic debut in 50m freestyle at the 2024 Paris Olympics
