Tyler Gentry Called Up by Kansas City Royals

Selected in the third round in 2020, Gentry becomes 70th Crimson Tide player to reach Major League level
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Tyler Gentry, a member of the Crimson Tide from 2019-20, was recalled by the Kansas City Royals on Sunday, marking his first trip to the Major Leagues. His first game appearance will signify his MLB debut. The former Alabama outfielder becomes the first Crimson Tide player to reach the big leagues since Matt Foster in 2020 and becomes the 70th player in program history to reach baseball's highest level.
Gentry appeared in 386 career minor league games prior to his first call-up, posting an .843 OPS in 1,395 career at-bats. Since the conclusion of this summer's All-Star break, Gentry produced a .309/.391/.512 slash line in 44 games, adding nine home runs and 29 RBIs in that span.

- The Crimson Tide's every day right fielder in 2019 and 2020, starting 72 of his 73 games played
- Batted .335 with 18 doubles and 17 home runs while contributing 63 RBI and 56 runs scored for his career
- Led UA in nearly every offensive statistic in his two seasons at Alabama
- Finished his 2020 campaign ranked in the top-five of multiple offensive categories among Southeastern Conference hitters, including on-base percentage (.554 | 2nd), batting average (.429 | 4th) and slugging percentage (.750 | 5th)
- Also ranked in the SEC's top-10 for RBI (21 | T6th), total bases (42 | T8th), hits (24 | T9th) and runs scored (19 | T10th) this season
- Paced UA in average (.310), hits (65), homers (13), RBI (42), slugging (.552) and total bases (116) as a sophomore
- Tied for seventh in home runs and ranked 14th in total bases among league bats during the 2019 regular season
- A standout in the classroom, he was named to the SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll each year at Alabama.
