
Paul Named to Hermann Trophy Watch List

The Hermann Trophy is the highest individual honor awarded in intercollegiate soccer
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Alabama's Gianna Paul was named to the 2024 MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List, the organization announced Thursday. A 2023 United Soccer Coaches All-Region First Team selection, Paul has highlighted the Crimson Tide offense the last two seasons, including pacing the team in goals (8) and points (17) in 2023.
The Hermann Trophy is the highest individual honor awarded in intercollegiate soccer and is given to the best individual male and female player, as voted on by NCAA Division I soccer coaches and announced by the United Soccer Coaches and Missouri Athletic Club (MAC).
Gianna Paul
- Named to the 2024 United Soccer Coaches Players to Watch Forward List and the SEC Preseason Watch List
- Named a 2023 United Soccer Coaches All-Region honoree, earning UA's seventh all-time first-team nod
- Two-time All-Southeastern Conference honoree earning first-team honors in 2023 and second-team honors in 2022
- Finished the 2023 season ranked 27th nationally and first within the SEC in shots per game (3.71)
- Ranked sixth last season in the conference in total goals (8)
- Scored 16 goals over her two years with the Crimson Tide
- Named the 2022 SEC Freshman of the Year
The MAC Hermann Trophy
- Paul is one of 44 players named to the Hermann Trophy Watch List
- Additionally, she is one of just 10 juniors to receive recognition on this year's watch list
- The Hermann Trophy, presented annually by the Missouri Athletic Club, is the nation's highest individual honor recognizing the National Player of the Year as determined by the voting of Division I coaches who are members of United Soccer Coaches
- 15 female players will be named Hermann Trophy semifinalists on Dec. 4 following completion of Division I All-America voting
- From that list, head coaches will cast votes, and three players will be named finalists
- The 2024 winner is revealed on Jan. 3, 2025, at a ceremony at the historic Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis, Mo.
