
Former Alabama Gymnasts Luisa Blanco, Shallon Olsen Qualify for Event Finals at 2024 Paris Olympics

Blanco (Colombia) scored 51.698 to reach the All-Around final in her Olympics debut, while Olsen (Canada) secured her third-straight Olympic appearance in the vault final behind a 14.166 qualification score
PARIS – On the opening day of Olympics competition in women's gymnastics, Alabama's pair of former gymnasts used historic performances during Qualifications to advance to Event Finals.
In her Olympics debut, representing her home country of Colombia, Luisa Blanco scored a 51.698 in the All-Around to successfully secure her place in the final (Thursday, Aug. 1). With the feat, Blanco is now the first gymnast in Colombian history to reach an Artistic Gymnastics final at the Olympics.
Representing her country, Canada, Shallon Olsen qualified for the vault final (Saturday, Aug. 3) for her third consecutive Olympics behind a score of 14.166. Olsen and Team Canada also qualified for the Team Final (Tuesday, July 30) after earning their first women's team qualification in 12 years.
