
Alabama Lands Five on ITA Scholar-Athlete Team

Andrii Zimnokh, Matic Dimic, Roan Jones, Yair Sarouk and Zach Foster received the individual honor while the men’s tennis program captured the academic team accoladed for the 12th consecutive year
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. –– The Alabama men's tennis team placed five student-athletes on the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Scholar-Athlete Team, the organization announced.
Junior Zach Foster highlighted the list with his third ITA Scholar All-America honor, while sophomores Roan Jones and Yair Sarouk secured the accolade for the second consecutive year. Freshman Andrii Zimnokh and transfer Matic Dimic made their first appearance on the list.
The Tide recorded a 3.74 GPA in the fall and a 3.67 GPA for the spring semester to earn the program's 12th appearance on the ITA All-Academic Team.
The academic honor accompanies a list of athletic accomplishments including the Tide's 21st all-time appearance at the NCAA Tournament, the NCAA Singles Title from Filip Planinsek and an ITA National Indoor Championship berth. UA held a top-30 national ranking for 14 straight weeks, which includes a top-25 ranking in 13 polls.
The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All varsity letter winners are factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year.
In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status, a player must meet the following criteria: Be a varsity letter winner; have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year; and have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters (including freshman through senior year).
