Hawkins earned NFCA All-Region honors as a freshman at Mississippi State
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Rising sophomore infielder Salen Hawkins will join Alabama softball following an All-Region freshman season at Mississippi State.
Hawkins started 52 games last year with the Bulldogs, batting .294 (40-for-136) with 22 runs scored and 26 RBIs, earning Third Team NFCA All-South Region honors. She was named SEC Freshman of the Week on March 12 after a 5-for-8 weekend with four RBIs in the series win over Ole Miss and her 11 multi-hit games over the season were the most for any Mississippi State freshman since 2018. She was a high school teammate of current Crimson Tide pitcher Jocelyn Briski at Desert Vista High School, earning All-Region and offensive MVP honors on their 2021 conference championship squad.
Hawkins is the eighth newcomer slated to join #Team29 in the fall of 2024 alongside transfers, Emily Winstead (RHP – UNC Wilmington), Catelyn Riley (RHP – Ole Miss), Alexis Pupillo (UTIL – Northern Iowa) and freshmen Braya Hodges (P – Dothan, Ala.), Mari Hubbard (IF – Huntsville, Ala.), Kennedy Marceaux (IF – Kaplan, La.) and Audrey Vandagriff (OF – Bogart, Ga.). Alabama looks to return 11 players from its 2024 Women's College World Series team.
