Alabama Places Six on CSC Academic All-District Team

Oussama El Bouchayby, Carson Burian, Jacob Harris and Matthew Weaver made up the Tide’s male honorees as Victoria Faber and Joy Gill represent the women’s program
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Six total student-athletes spanning across the Alabama track and field and cross country programs were named to the College Sports Communicators' Track and Field/Cross Country Academic All-District Team, the organization announced.
On the men's side, Oussama El Bouchayby, Carson Burian, Jacob Harris and Matthew Weaver earned the honor while Victoria Faber and Joy Gill made up the women's All-District honorees for the Crimson Tide.
El Bouchayby, Burian and Gill were selected as CSC Academic All-America finalists and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members.
From there, first, second and third-team for women's track and field/cross country Academic All-America honorees will be announced July 9, with the men's Academic All-Americans getting announced July 10.
The Crimson Tide Honorees at a Glance
- All six nominees hold above a 3.56 GPA, with four of Alabama's nominees holding a 4.00 GPA
- El Bouchayby, Faber, Harris, Weaver have a perfect 4.00
- El Bouchayby (800m), Weaver (4x100m relay; 4x400m relay) and Victoria Faber (pole vault) recently represented Alabama at the 2024 NCAA Track and Field Outdoor National Championships in Eugene, Ore.
- Burian claimed silver at the SEC Outdoor Championships in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, while Harris represented the Tide in both the 5,000 and 10,000-meter races at the conference meet
- Gill earned All-South Region honors during the 2023 cross country season
The Crimson Tide Women
- Victoria Faber holds a 4.00 GPA while pursuing her master's in biology
- Faber earned honorable mention All-America honors during her final track and field season after qualifying for Nationals behind a personal-best performance at the regional meet
- Joy Gill maintains a 3.96 GPA while pursuing her degree in nutrition
- Gill finished her 2023 cross country season as a USTFCCCA All-South Region honoree, as her season was highlighted by a trio of top-15 finishes
The Crimson Tide Men
- Oussama El Bouchayby holds a 4.00 GPA en route to his degree in sports management
- El Bouchayby earned Second Team All-America honors at the NCAA Outdoor National Championships following his 12th-place finish in the 800 meters
- Carson Burian holds a 3.56 GPA while pursuing his bachelor's in finance and management information sciences
- Burian earned Second Team All-SEC honors following his silver-medal-winning performance in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the SEC Championships, before also reaching the NCAA Regional meet
- Jacob Harris maintains a 4.00 GPA while pursuing his master's in sport hospitality management
- During the 2023-24 cross country/track and field season, Harris racked up six top-15 finishes and suited up for the Tide in all three conference championship meets
- Matthew Weaver holds a 4.00 GPA while pursuing his master's in human environmental sciences
- Throughout the year, Weaver routinely made his presence felt on the track, helping Alabama qualify for the NCAA Championships in both the 4x100-meter relay, as well as the 4x400-meter relay, for the NCAA Championships, securing Second Team All-America honors following the 4x400m race
