TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama softball bolstered its bullpen even further with the addition of rising senior Emily Winstead, who joins the Crimson Tide after three seasons at UNC Wilmington.
The Bunn., N.C., native was a two-time NFCA All-Region honoree with the Seahawks, becoming the school's first ever Colonial Athletic Association Pitcher of the Year as a freshman in 2022. She helped lead UNCW to a pair of CAA titles in 2022 and 2024 with a career 2.26 ERA and 31-22 record, striking out 402 batters across 353.2 innings pitched. As a junior in 2024, she posted a career-best 1.94 ERA with 10 complete games, including four shutouts.
Winstead is the seventh newcomer slated to join #Team29 in the fall of 2024 alongside transfers Catelyn Rliey (RHP – Ole Miss), Alexis Pupillo (UTIL – Northern Iowa) and freshmen Braya Hodges (P – Dothan, Ala.), Mari Hubbard (IF – Huntsville, Ala.), Kennedy Marceaux (IF – Kaplan, La.) and Audrey Vandagriff (OF – Bogart, Ga.). Alabama looks to return 11 players from its 2024 Women's College World Series team.
