Alabama to Compete at Virginia Regional in ITA Kickoff Weekend Tournament

The Crimson Tide will compete as the No. 2 seed at the regional site and will face No. 3 seeded VCU
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. –– The Alabama men's tennis team will make its fourth consecutive appearance in the ITA Kickoff Weekend Tournament after securing a spot at the Virginia Regional in Charlottesville, Va. The second-seeded Crimson Tide will open the tournament against third-seeded VCU on Jan. 25, while host and top-seed Virginia will face fourth-seeded Boise State.
The regional site winner will advance to the ITA National Team Indoor Championships. SMU and Baylor will share host site duties for the indoor national championship with dates being announced at a later time.
The Crimson Tide won last season's regional championships, downing Nebraska (Jan. 26 | W, 4-2) and then-No. 10 Kentucky (Jan. 27 | W, 4-2) to advance to the ITA National Indoor Championships for the first time since 2010.
ITA Kickoff Weekend
- Alabama will compete as the No. 2 seed for the second consecutive year
- The Tide will face third-seeded VCU in the opening round match while Virginia and Boise State go head-to-head
- Alabama and VCU meet for the first time since 2000
- The winner of both matches will compete in the regional finals on Sunday, while the two losing teams will compete in a consolation match
- The winner from each of the 14 regional sites will automatically advance to the ITA National Indoor Championships, joining SMU and Baylor to round out the 16-team tournament
