
Women’s Golf Wraps Up Day One of the NCAA Regionals

The Crimson Tide sits in 10th place as a team after day one at the Tumble Creek Club
CLE ELUM, Wash. – The Alabama women's golf team sits in 10th place after the opening round of the NCAA Regionals with a team total of 15-over par 303 at the Cle Elum Regional. Leading the way for the Crimson Tide is Sarah Edwards and Mattie Frick as the Alabama duo sits in a tie for 30th place on the player leaderboard with a score of 3-over par 75.
The Tide will be paired with Virginia Tech and Kansas in the second round of the Cle Elum Regional, Tuesday morning beginning at 11:55 a.m. CT.
INVITATIONAL HIGHLIGHTS
- Alabama posted the second lowest average score (4.52) on Par 5 holes throughout the first round
- The Crimson Tide recorded 16 birdies in the first round, which ranked second throughout the field
- Sarah Edwards was one of three golfers to average the lowest average score (4.00) on Par 5 holes in the first round of the regional
- Edwards was tied for the team lead in birdies (4) throughout the first 18 holes along with Kynadie Adams
- Mattie Frick's 4.40 average score on Par 5s is tied for the second lowest average throughout the field
- Frick recorded a team-high 12 pars and is tied with Edwards in 30th place
- Elina Sinz carded a 4-over par 76, placing her tied for 38th place
- Harriet Lockley ended her round shooting even-par on the back-9, carding 5-over par 77 and sits in 44th place
- Adams recorded all four birdies on the back-9, as she was the only UA golfer to shoot under-par on the back-9, at 3-under par 33, to jump up to 44th place at 5-over par 77
TEAM RESULTS
- Duke sits in first place on the team leaderboard at 6-under par 282, with Stanford in second place at 4-under par 284
- Duke's Anne Chen sits atop the player leaderboard at 5-under par 67

- Alabama will begin round two of the NCAA Regionals on Tuesday, May 7 at the Tumble Creek Club
