
Victor Kiprop, Macy Schelp Selected to 2024 SEC Track and Field Community Service Teams

Kiprop volunteered at University Place Elementary School, while Schelp split her time between Big Brother Big Sister, and Read Engage – a program she has given her time to since her freshman year
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alabama distance runners Victor Kiprop and Macy Schelp were named to the 2024 Southeastern Conference Track and Field Men's and Women's Community Service Teams, the league office announced Thursday afternoon.
Each year, the conference names a Community Service Team for each of its 21 league-sponsored sports, looking to highlight a student-athlete from each school who gives back to his or her community.
Victor Kiprop
- Volunteered at University Place Elementary School where he spent time with children, helping them with their homework or other class assignments
- Served at Alabama Athletics' annual Halloween Extravaganza where student-athletes from various UA sports come together to provide a trick-or-treat event for the local Tuscaloosa community
- Has also given his time at Alberta Head Start and Project Angel Tree
Macy Schelp
- Majority of her commitment to community service was spent between Big Brother Big Sister and the Read Engage Program
- At Big Brother Big Sister, Schelp got to mentor a ninth-grade girl and be a source of encouragement in her life
- Gave her time to Read Engage, a program she has helped with since her freshman year
- There, Schelp received first-hand experience for an hour with children after school and helped ignite a passion for reading
- Schelp created curriculums based off books in addition to generating reading guides for her class that interspersed questions to the book
- Schelp also conducted activities and crafts with the class related to the book
