Filip Planinsek Opens NCAA Singles Championships

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. ––Alabama's Filip Planinsek will make his second appearance at the NCAA Singles Championships when he opens competition Monday against North Florida's Jonas Hartenstein at the Greenwood Tennis Center in Stillwater, Okla. Planinsek's Round of 64 match is scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m. CT.
Planinsek tallied 21 singles victories over the course of the season, securing 14 wins while playing as the Tide's No. 1 singles player. His performance on the court led to him holding a singles ranking throughout the entirety of the 2023-24 campaign, entering the NCAA Championships as the No. 29 singles player in the country. He will take on the 118th-ranked player nationally in Hartenstein in the first round of the tournament Monday.
Planinsek is making his second appearance at the NCAA Championships after being selected for the singles bracket as a freshman. He reached the second round of the 2022 NCAA Singles Championships.
