The freshman pitched a complete-game victory Saturday at Arkansas in her first SEC road start
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – For the second time in three weeks, Alabama freshman Jocelyn Briski was recognized by the Southeastern Conference, earning SEC Co-Freshman of the Week honors Tuesday from the league office.
The Phoenix, Ariz., native threw a complete-game win Saturday against Arkansas in her first career SEC road start. She held the Razorbacks to just one run on a wild pitch while scattering six hits, all singles. Throwing her third complete game of the season, she allowed Alabama to complete its first comeback win this year when trailing after 4.0 innings, a 5-1 Crimson Tide victory.
The award is Briski's second in her rookie campaign, winning the same accolade two weeks ago following the Ole Miss series. She is the first Alabama freshman to win multiple weekly awards since Montana Fouts won four times in 2019.
Her two awards bring Alabama's season total to five, with Lauren Johnson winning Co-Freshman of the Week on Feb. 12, Jenna Johnson winning Co-Player of the Week on Feb. 26 and Kayla Beaver winning Co-Pitcher of the Week on April 9. Over its program's history, Alabama has taken home 27 SEC Freshman of the Week awards.
