
Alabama Lands Eight on All-SEC Team

The Crimson Tide had five swimmers earn Second Team All-SEC honors, while an additional three swimmers were named to the all-freshman team
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Eight members of the Alabama men's and women's swimming and diving team earned All-Southeastern Conference honors, the league office announced Wednesday.
Five Alabama swimmers were named second-team honorees for their performance at the SEC Championships as Kaique Alves, Charlie Hawke, Tim Korstanje and Zarek Wilson earned the accolade on the men's side and Avery Wiseman highlighted the women's side. Additionally, Tommy Hagar, Sydney Sanders and Gaby Van Brunt were named to the SEC All-Freshman Team for their success during their rookie campaign.
For the All-SEC Teams, the First Team consists of the top finisher in each event at the SEC Championships, and the Second Team consists of the second- and third-place finishers in each event. The All-Freshman Teams consist of any redshirt or true freshman who finished either in the top eight or is the highest scoring freshman of each event at the SEC Championships, excluding relay events.
Alabama's All-SEC Honorees
- Charlie Hawke earned Second Team All-SEC honors after capturing a silver medal in the 200 freestyle and a bronze medal in the 500 freestyle
- Additionally, Hawke alongside teammates Kaique Alves, Tim Korstanje and Zarek Wilson posted a third-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay as all four members of the Tide's relay contingent picked up second-team honors
- Avery Wiseman's silver medal in the 100 breaststroke secured her spot on the all-conference second team
- Additionally, three Alabama swimmers earned all-freshman honors in their first year of collegiate competition
- Gaby Van Brunt finished fourth in the 100 butterfly, Sydney Sanders finished sixth in the 400 individual medley and Tommy Hagar finished seventh in the 200 backstroke to secure their all-conference nod
Additional Information about the Honorees
- In addition to his three SEC medals, Hawke concluded the season as a four-time 2024 All-American, earning first-team honors in the 200 and 500 freestyle and second-team honors with the 400 and 800 freestyle relay
- Alves also earned All-America honors, picking up Second Team All-America accolades in the 200 freestyle, in addition to both the 400 and 800 freestyle relay
- Korstanje and Wilson earned All-America honors at the NCAA Championships as part of the 400 freestyle relay team, marking the 11th straight year that the Tide has earned All-America honors in the event
- Wiseman finished the NCAA Championships as a three-time All-American, being named a second-team honoree in the 100 and 200 breaststroke and the 200 medley relay
- Van Brunt's 100 butterfly time (51.68) at the SEC Championships ranked her second in program history, while Sanders' performance in the 400 individual medley (4:12.66) at the conference championships moved her to eighth all time at UA
- Van Brunt was also a member of the Tide's Second Team All-American 200 medley relay team
- Hagar's 200 backstroke time (1:40.20) at the SEC Championships placed him fifth all-time in program history
- Hagar also earned Second Team All-America honors as a member of UA's 800 freestyle relay team
