
Women’s Golf Wraps Up Day One of the SEC Championship

The Crimson Tide sits in 11th place as a team after day one at the Pelican Golf Club
BELLEAIR, Fla. – The Alabama women's golf team sits in 11th place after the opening round of the SEC Championship with a team total of 10-over par 290. Leading the way for the Crimson Tide is Sarah Edwards and Harriet Lockley as the Alabama duo sits in a tie for 23rd place on the player leaderboard with a score of 1-over par 71.
The Tide will be paired with Florida and Vanderbilt in the second round of the SEC Championship, Saturday morning beginning at 8:10 a.m. CT.
INVITATIONAL HIGHLIGHTS
- Harriet Lockley was tied for the most birdies by an Alabama golfer (Elina Sinz) with three birdies in the first round of the tournament
- Lockley, Sinz and Kaitlyn Schroeder posted an average score of 4.50 on Par 5s, tied for the lowest average score on Par 5 holes in the first round
- After shooting 1-over par on the front 9, Sarah Edwards turned things around on the back 9, shooting 1-under par, ending the day tied with Lockley at 1-over par 71
- Schroeder sits in the top-35 on the player leaderboard, tied at 35th overall at 3-over par 73
- Taylor Kehoe carded a 5-over par 75 in the opening round, placing her tied for 47th overall
- Sinz rounds out the lineup in 64th place at 7-over par 77
TEAM RESULTS
- South Carolina sits in first place on the team leaderboard at 5-under par 275
- Texas A&M's Cayetana Fernandez Garcia-Poggio sits atop the player leaderboard at 4-under par 66
