GREENVILLE, S.C. – The No. 4 seed Alabama women's basketball team will open play in the 2024 Southeastern Conference Women's Basketball Tournament Friday afternoon in Bon Secours Wellness Arena. The Crimson Tide will face one of two opponents – No. 5 seed Tennessee or No. 12 seed Kentucky – in the quarterfinals at approximately 1:30 p.m. CT on SEC Network.
Alabama finished the regular season with a 23-8 overall record and a 10-6 record in SEC play. It's the most regular season wins for the Tide since 1991-92 and the third time in program history that UA has collected at least 10 conference victories.
During the season, UA defeated both Kentucky (91-74) and Tennessee (72-56) inside Coleman Coliseum. Sarah Ashlee Barker and Essence Cody collected double-doubles to lead the team to victory versus the Wildcats. Alabama secured its fourth consecutive victory dating back to Jan. 28 after beating Tennessee on Feb. 8. Aaliyah Nye helped lead the Tide to win behind a 23-point performance with three steals and two assists.
