Kaitlyn Schroeder leads UA carding an even par through the first 18 holes of action
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – The Alabama women's golf team closed the first round of play at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate Monday in the 11th position with a team total 5-under par 289.
Kaitlyn Schroeder leads the Crimson Tide in a tie for 21st overall after carding an even par for the day.
The three-day, 54-hole tournament hosted by South Carolina will conclude Wednesday and is being contested at the par 71, 6,369-yard Long Cove Club in Hilton Head Island, S.C.
ROUND ONE HIGHLIGHTS
- Kaitlyn Schroeder enters round two tied for the second best across the field in par 3 scoring (2.50, -2) and in birdies carded through round one (5)
- Sarah Edwards and Elina Sinz end the day with matching scores of 1-over par 72 and tied for the 38th position overall
- Taylor Kehoe is currently in a tie for 56th with a 3-over par 74 while Mattie Frick rounds out the Tide's starters tied for 84th at 9-over 80
- Harriet Lockley is also competing in the event as an individual in the three-day, 54-hole event
- Lockley sits tied for 56th with a 3-over 74
TEAM RESULTS
- Arizona State (-6) leads the 17-team field with a 3-stroke lead over Duke (-3) and Northwestern (-3)
- Tournament host South Carolina (-2) is in fourth place with LSU (-1) and Mississippi State (-1) rounding out the top-5 on the leaderboard
UP NEXT
- Alabama will tee off in round two of the event Tuesday morning beginning at 8:20 a.m. CT on hole No. 10 paired alongside Ohio State
