Cody earns her fourth SEC Freshman of the Week honor this season
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alabama women's basketball forward Essence Cody has been named the SEC Freshman of the Week for the fourth time this season, the Southeastern Conference announced Monday.
Cody provided quality performances while Alabama finished the final week of the regular season 2-0 and helped Alabama secure the No. 4 seed and a double-bye in the 2024 SEC Women's Basketball Tournament.
- Averaged 57.1 percent from the floor (4-7) and 66.6 percent free-throw line (2-3) during the week
- Collected a total of 10 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks through two games
- Led her teammates in rebounds and blocks, averaging 5.5 rebounds per game and 1.5 blocks per game
- Has started every game for Alabama and leads the team in rebounds (6.4 rpg) and blocks (1.9 bpg)
- Cody ranks fourth in the SEC in blocks (59) and 24th in the country
