The Crimson Tide sits in sixth place as a team after day one at the Liz Murphey Intercollegiate
ATHENS, Ga. – The Alabama women's golf team sits in sixth place after the opening two rounds of the Liz Murphey Intercollegiate with a team total of 13-over par 589 (292-297). Harriet Lockley leads the way for the Crimson Tide in a tie for eighth place with a score of even-par 144 (69-75). Four of the five Tide players sit in the top-35 on the player leaderboard.
The Tide got off to a solid start, opening the tournament with a 4-over par 292, ending the round in fourth place. Alabama ended the day with a second round score of 9-over par 297 to wrap up the day in sixth place.
INVITATIONAL HIGHLIGHTS
- Alabama posted the second lowest score (4.14) on Par 4s
- The Tide was one of two teams (Auburn) to record an eagle within the first two rounds
- Lockley shot a 3-under par 69 in the opening round, recording five birdies throughout the first 18 holes
- After a 3-over par 75 in the second round to end the day at even-par, Lockley sits three strokes out of third place
- Alabama's trio of Sarah Edwards, Elina Sinz and Taylor Kehoe are tied for 35th overall at 5-over par 149
- Edwards posted the lowest score by a UA player in the second round, carding a 1-over par 73 highlighted by an eagle on the seventh hole
- Along with Lockley, Kehoe posted a team-best seven birdies in the first two rounds
- Sinz posted five birdies throughout the first 36 holes
- Schroeder led the Tide with 26 pars in the opening two rounds, sitting in 51st place, carding an 8-over par 152 (77-75)
TEAM RESULTS
- Auburn sits in first place on the team leaderboard at 3-under par 573 (290-283)
- Kansas State's Carla Bernat sits atop the player leaderboard at 8-under par 136 (69-67)
