No. 8 Seed Alabama Completes Final Practice in Preparation for First Round of NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament

The eighth-seeded Crimson Tide will face ninth-seeded Florida State on Friday at 4:30 p.m. CT on ESPN2
AUSTIN, Texas – The No. 8-seeded Alabama women's basketball team took the floor at the Moody Center to finish preparing for its opening First Round NCAA Tournament game against No. 9 seed Florida State. The Crimson Tide (23-9) and Seminoles (23-10) will tipoff at approximately 4:30 p.m. CT on ESPN2.
Prior to practice, head coach Kristy Curry and student-athletes Sarah Ashlee Barker and Aaliyah Nye met with reporters. During its 90-minute practice session, the Tide worked on individual skills, positional drills, offensive and defensive sets and continued reviewing its game plan for Friday's contest.

- Loyal McQueen leads the team at the stripe, shooting 79.5 percent from the free-throw line
- McQueen started in all 32 games in 2023-24, averaging 30.4 minutes per game and 9.6 points per game
- She scored in double figures in 20 games, including a season-high 16 against Vanderbilt (Feb. 5)
- Karly Weathers is finishing her sophomore season with averaging 21.9 minutes per game and 4.7 points per game
- She recorded double-digit points in three games, including her first career double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds against Arkansas (Feb. 1)
About Florida State
- Florida State finished the regular season with 12 Atlantic Coast Conference victories and made a run in the ACC Tournament before losing to NC State in the semifinals, 69-43
- The Seminoles have four student-athletes averaging double figures, including TaiNiya Latson (21.3 ppg), Makayla Timpson (14.1 ppg), O'Mariah Gordon (13.4 ppg) and Sara Bejedi (12.2 ppg)
- Timpson leads the team with 330 rebounds and 84 blocks, averaging 10 rebounds per game and 2.5 blocks per game
