
Alabama Closes Opening Day of Zone B Diving Championships

Courtney Russo and Julia Herring competed on the 1m board on the opening day of competition
ATHENS, Ga. – Alabama opened the Zone B Diving Championships on Sunday with the women's 1m board, as Courtney Russo and Julia Herring represented the Crimson Tide in the opening event.
Meet Notes
- Courtney Russo led the Crimson Tide, scoring a 240.05 to finish 27th on the 1-meter springboard
- She closed the competition strong with the round's seventh-best dive, tallying 48.75 points with her back 1-1/2 somersault 1-1/2 twist free in the sixth round
- She would open the day with her best dive, an inward 1-1/2 somersault pike for 49.20 points
- Julia Herring captured a 46.80 score off a forward 2-1/2 somersault pike to start the event
- She posted mirroring 43.20 scores in rounds three and four thanks to a reverse 1-1/2 somersault pike and an inward 1-1/2 somersault pike, respectively
- She would conclude the event with a score of 225.60 for 38th place
