No. 9 Alabama Travels West for Quad Meet at Texas Woman’s University

The Crimson Tide will face the TWU Pioneers, the No. 16 Arkansas Razorbacks and the No. 17 Arizona Wildcats in a quad meet, Monday at 2 p.m. CT, in Denton, Texas
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The No. 9 Alabama gymnastics team will travel to Denton, Texas, for a quad meet in Kitty Magee Arena on Monday, hosted by Texas Woman's University (3-6). The Crimson Tide's seventh meet featuring at least one top-20 opponent will begin at 2 p.m. CT.
Monday's competition will be the seventh contest for Alabama (5-2-1, 2-2-1 SEC) this season as the Crimson Tide is coming off a hard-fought loss to the then-No. 14 Auburn Tigers. Despite the outcome, UA captured multiple podium finishes as eight gymnasts either tied or set new season-high marks.

- TWU will be raising awareness for cancer during the meet
- Each gymnast competing on Monday will wear a ribbon to highlight and raise awareness for a type of cancer
Head Coach Ashley Johnston Said
"We're six weeks in with five weeks to go before the SEC Championships. This week, we've worked at digging into our process and figuring out what we need to tweak, what we need to change, to make sure that we are prepared for any situation we find ourselves in. We're looking forward to competing at TWU this week - it will be a great quad meet format with four teams going. This meet allows us an opportunity to prepare and make sure that we have depth with multiple student-athletes ready to score at a high level."
Monday's Meet
- Alabama is led by Ashley Johnston, in her second season as UA's head coach, while Lisa Bowerman is in her 13th year at the helm of the TWU Pioneers
- John Court is in his sixth season as the head coach of the Arizona Wildcats, while the Arkansas Razorbacks are led by Jordyn Wieber, who is in her fifth season
- The Tide and the Razorbacks went head-to-head earlier in the season (Jan. 19) with both teams ending the night deadlocked at a 197.525 score
- Monday marks the first time in program history that Alabama will compete against TWU
- Having already competed twice in the all-time series, the Tide and the Wildcats last saw each other in 2015, with Alabama holding a 2-0 record in series history
Last Time Out
- Despite the loss to then-No. 14 Auburn (197.050-197.725), the Crimson Tide recorded its highest rotation score of the season on vault (49.400), highlighted by a career-high 9.950 score from freshman Chloe LaCoursiere
- Gabby Gladieux made her career-debut in the all-around
- Blanco's performance on uneven bars also places her sixth in the conference as Cameron Machado (seventh), Makarri Doggette (11th) and Chloe LaCoursiere (22nd) join her to put four Alabama gymnasts in the SEC's top 25
The Tide in the Rankings
- Alabama ranks fifth, nationally, on the uneven bars, with an average score of 49.413, while simultaneously posting top-six rankings on all four events within the Southeastern Conference (No. 2 – UB; No. 4 – VT; No. 5 – BB; No. 6 – FX)
- Individually, Luisa Blanco holds top-20 national rankings on vault (5th – 9.912), uneven bars (16th – 9.905) and the all-around (13th – 39.560)
- Joining Blanco (sixth) in the conference uneven bars rankings is Cameron Machado (seventh), Makarri Doggette (11th) and Chloe LaCoursiere (22nd) to put four Alabama gymnasts in the top-25
