Kaitlyn Schroeder leads Alabama tied for the 32nd position overall
MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Alabama women's golf team is in a tie for 15th place after Saturday's opening round of play at the Moon Golf Invitational. The Crimson Tide concluded the first 18 holes of the 54-hole tournament with a team total of 9-over 297.
Freshman Kaitlyn Schroeder leads the Tide after day one sitting tied for 32nd with a 1-over par 73 with Sarah Edwards and Taylor Kehoe following closely behind both tied for 48th with matching scores of 2-over par 74.
ROUND ONE HIGHLIGHTS
- The Crimson Tide combined for a total of eight birdies across round one, including four by Kaitlyn Schroeder across the back nine
- Schroeder ended her round with five birdies, tying for third among all golfers in the field
- Sarah Edwards and Taylor Kehoe each carded rounds of 2-over par 74
- Elina Sinz is in a tie for 64th overall at 4-over par 76 with Kynadie Adams rounding out the Tide's starting five at 8-over par 80 and in a tie for 85th overall
Tournament HIGHLIGHTS
- All but one team in the 17-team field is ranked inside the top-50, according to Clippd, including 12 teams in the top-25 and four in the top-10
- No. 15 Auburn leads the field at 6-under par
- No. 10 LSU (-5), Louisville (-2), No. 11 Ole Miss (-1) and Virginia Tech (E) round out the top five teams in the event
- Alabama ranks tied for third in par 5 scoring across the field (4.95, -1)
