Davis II Selected to Stopper of the Year Watch List

The sophomore is one of 73 players named to the preseason list recognizing the nation’s top closer
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama's Alton Davis II was named to the 2024 Stopper of the Year Watch List, the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) announced on Wednesday.
Davis II is one of 73 relievers on the NCBWA's initial list for Stopper of the Year, an award which is given annually to the top relief pitcher in Division I college baseball.
Stopper of the Year Watch List
- Served as the Crimson Tide's primary closer in his first season in Tuscaloosa
- Pitched in 25 games – all in relief – and finished with a 1-2 record to go with eight saves
- The eight saves led Alabama and tied for second in the Southeastern Conference in 2023
- Maintained an impressive 2.76 ERA (5 ER/16.1 IP) to go with a league-high tying six saves in SEC action
- Also selected to the preseason All-SEC Second Team by the conference coaches earlier this month
