Nadia Ramadan converted a penalty kick in the 85th minute to pace the Crimson Tide in the match
PENSACOLA, Fla. –– The Alabama soccer team (10-6-5) fell 4-1 to No. 14 South Carolina (9-2-7) in the quarterfinals of the Southeastern Conference Tournament on Tuesday.
Nadia Ramadan would net the Tide's lone goal in the match, converting a penalty kick in the 85th minute. Amanda Patrick scored South Carolina's opening goal off a corner kick in the 11th minute of the game, before Catherine Barry netted her first of two penalty kicks (33rd minute, 84th minute) in the match. USC's Autumn Cayelli would also tally a goal, firing from outside the box in the 75th minute.
From Head Coach Wes Hart
"Disappointing end to the season for sure. We showed glimpses of promising soccer. We competed well and showed we could play with a lot of teams, but we just weren't good enough to close games out. We had leads over Tennessee, Georgia and Auburn and weren't able to finish them off. All three of those teams are NCAA Tournament teams. We certainly expected more from ourselves this year.
"Tough way to send our seniors out, many of whom are used to playing into mid to late November. We've gone to second round of NCAA Tournament each of the past three seasons, but I am grateful for everything they gave to this program and there is no doubt they made a huge impact on Bama soccer!"
