Former Alabama players make an impact in Week 12 of the NFL season
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The National Football League concluded Week 12 of the regular season Monday evening. Below is a look at how former Alabama players performed on the gridiron last week.
Tua Tagovailoa and Jaylen Waddle excelled for the Miami Dolphins in Sunday's 34-15 victory against the New England Patriots. Tagovailoa completed 29-of-40 passes for 317 yards and four touchdowns, continuing his efficient passing effort since returning from injury. Waddle was on the receiving end of eight of Tagovailoa's passes, totaling 144 yards and a score by day's end.
A trio of former Alabama tailbacks were instrumental in their respective teams' victories last week. The Lions' Jahmyr Gibbs tallied 21 carries for 90 yards and two touchdowns in Detroit's 24-6 win over the Indianapolis Colts. For the Packers, Josh Jacobs racked up 126 yards and three scores on 26 rushes in Green Bay's lopsided 38-10 victory over San Francisco. Rounding out the group was Derrick Henry, who finished with 140 rushing yards on 24 carries for Baltimore to guide the Ravens to a 31-24 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday Night Football.
Calvin Ridley maintained his consistent play for the Titans, closing his afternoon with 93 receiving yards on five receptions in Tennessee's road win over the Houston Texans. Opposite of Ridley on the Texans was Will Anderson Jr. The second-year standout made two solo stops, both of which were for loss, while providing two quarterback hits for Houston.
Joining Anderson Jr. on defense was a host of former Tide defensive linemen. A'Shawn Robinson picked up eight tackles, including one for loss, in the Carolina Panthers' narrow loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Daron Payne filled up the box score for the Commanders, earning four total stops, including one sack and a tackle for loss, to go with a quarterback hit in Washington's divisional loss to the Dallas Cowboys.
Anfernee Jennings and Xavier McKinney also made their presences known on the defensive side of the ball. Jennings tallied six tackles for New England in the Patriots' road loss, while McKinney racked up three tackles, two passes defended and his league-leading seventh interception of the season for the Packers.
