
Alabama Lands Six on CSC Academic All-District Team

Itala Gemelli, Leah Kunde, Gianna Paul, Nadia Ramadan, Nedya Sawan and Gessica Skorka earned the honor for the Crimson Tide
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. –– Six members of the Alabama soccer team were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, the organization announced Tuesday.
Gessica Skorka earned her third academic all-district nod with Alabama while Itala Gemelli and Gianna Paul picked up their second academic all-district selection. Nedya Sawan is a two-time honoree with Portland as the graduate transfer earned her third career distinction. Leah Kunde and Nadia Ramadan were named CSC Academic All-District recipients for the first time in their career.
About the Honorees
- Itala Gemelli, Nedya Sawan and Gessica Skorka boast perfect 4.0 GPAs in their respective graduate programs with Gemelli and Skorka studying sport management and Sawan working towards a degree in health studies
- Skorka secured her third consecutive CSC All-District honor, joining Katie French (2002, 2003, 2004) as the only two student-athletes in program history to earn three academic all-district honors while at Alabama
- Sawan also secured her third all-district accolade after being named to the academic list her junior and senior seasons at Portland as Gemelli and Paul earned the honor for the second consecutive year with the Tide
- Paul and Skorka were named Southeastern Conference First-Team honorees for their performance during the season
- Paul tallied a career-high 12 goals in 2024 to move to third all-time in program history in both single season (12) and career (28) goals, as five of her shots were credited as the game winner
- Skorka bettered the program record for games started, concluding the season with 97
- Both Skorka and Ramadan tallied a team-leading five assists as Ramadan also ranked second in goals with seven
- Sawan ranked third this season in points (16), goals (6) and assists (4) while primarily coming off the bench
- After moving to the backline this season, Gemelli helped the Tide shut out five opponents while contributing two goals in the Tide's offensive efforts
- Kunde netted the game-winning goal against Big Ten opponent Purdue and contributed three assists throughout the season
