Football’s Burnip Named Semifinalist for Ray Guy Award

The Crimson Tide punter is one of 10 semifinalists for the Guy
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama punter James Burnip was named a semifinalist for the Ray Guy Award, the Augusta Sports Council announced Friday morning.
Burnip is one of 10 semifinalists for the Ray Guy Award, presented each year to the top punter in college football. Three finalists will be announced on Tuesday, Nov. 26 with the winner announced during the ESPN College Football Awards Show on Thursday, Dec. 12. Alabama has never had a Ray Guy Award winner in its history.

- Totaled 1,809 yards on 39 punts to average 46.4 yards per boot, good for fourth in the SEC and sixth nationally
- Dropped 15 of his punts inside the opponent 20-yard line
- Boomed 16 punts of 50-plus yards, including a season-long 64-yarder at Wisconsin
- Forced 20 fair catches and allowed just seven returns for a combined five yards
- Helped the Tide to a 44.7 net punt average that ranks second in the conference and fourth in Division I
