Damien Nezar captured a singles and doubles victory to pace the Tide as Alabama went undefeated in doubles action on the second day of events

WACO, Texas – Damien Nezar paced the Alabama men's tennis team on the second day of the Big 12/SEC Challenge. Nezar recorded a win alongside teammate Roan Jones in doubles action before capturing his second singles victory at the tournament. Additionally, Matias Ponce De Leon and Carlos Gimenez Perez secured a win in paired play to keep the Tide undefeated in doubles action on Saturday.

Alabama went head-to-head with athletes from Arizona in doubles play, while competing against members from host Baylor in singles during the second day of events.

Match Notes

Nezar secured his fifth consecutive singles win this season, and second in the tournament, after downing Louis Bowden in two sets with a 6-4, 6-1 score
Earlier in the day, Nezar and Jones battled to an 8-3 doubles win over Inaki Cabrera-Bello and Casper Christensen
Alabama saw its second doubles win of the day from Ponce De Lone and Gimenez Perez
The duo fought to a 7-7 tie against Filip Gustafsson and Zoran Ludoski before trading points in the tiebreaker
Ponce De Leon and Gimenez Perez would rally to take the match with a 9-7 score in the tiebreaker
Additionally, two Alabama players lost after a difficult third-set battle in singles action as Ponce De Leon fell 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 to Zsombor Velcz and Gimenez Perez fell 7-5, 0-6, 6-3 to Quintan Van Wijk
