SEC Championships on Deck for No. 11/7 Cross Country

The Crimson Tide returns to action Friday morning for the 2024 SEC Championships, hosted at Texas A&M
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The No. 11/7 Alabama men's and women's cross country squads will head to College Station, Texas, Friday for the Southeastern Conference Cross Country Championships. Running at Watts Cross Country Course, the women's 6k race will start at 9:08 a.m. CT, with the men's 8k race beginning at 9:50 a.m.
Last season, Victor Kiprop defended his men's 8k individual title as the UA men recorded a second-place team finish – the program's third straight top-five finish at the conference meet, and fourth in the last five years. Meanwhile, Doris Lemngole claimed the silver medal in the women's 6k race as the UA women finished fourth, earning the program's fifth consecutive top-five finish at the league championships.
Entering the weekend, the UA men are ranked No. 11 in the nation and No. 1 in the South Region, according to the United States Track and Field & Cross Country Coaches Association's (USTFCCCA) rankings. On the women's side, Alabama sits at No. 7 nationally and No. 1 in the South Region.
