The Crimson Tide and Gamecocks met at Choccolocco Park in Oxford, Ala.
OXFORD, Ala. – Alabama softball wrapped up its fall season Sunday afternoon with a quick trip to Choccolocco Park for the Battle at the Big House in Oxford, Ala., defeating Jacksonville State, 10-3, across eight innings of play.
The game was the seventh and final fall game for the Crimson Tide, outscoring its four opponents by a combined score of 72-9 across those contests.
FROM HEAD COACH PATRICK MURPHY
"First I'd like to say thanks to the city of Oxford, Jacksonville State and Northeast Alabama Community College for putting on this event today. It's a win-win for softball in the state of Alabama. The crowd was awesome, the weather was great and the facility is awesome. I can't thank Jacksonville State enough for letting us do this. Today, the pitching was good, defense was good and the first inning on offense was impressive to score four runs right away. That showed we were ready to go.
"We had nine newcomers and 11 returnees this fall, so that's a lot of new faces to acclimate themselves to the program. They've all meshed really well and fit in with everybody. We tell our players all the time, the sooner that you let everybody else know your true authentic self, the better. I feel like this group has done that from day one and that will carry well into the spring."
