Former Alabama players make an impact in Week 4 of the NFL season
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The National Football League concluded Week 4 of the regular season Monday evening. Below is a look at how former Alabama players performed on the gridiron last week.
Tide skill players produced exceptional numbers in primetime over the weekend, highlighted by Derrick Henry. The first-year Raven shined in Baltimore's win over the Buffalo Bills on Sunday Night Football. Henry rushed 24 times for a season-high 199 yards including an 87-yard scoring run on Baltimore's first play from scrimmage. Following his dominant performance, Henry leads the NFL with 480 rushing yards and is tied for the league lead with five rushing touchdowns.
On Monday Night Football, teammates Jahmyr Gibbs and Jameson Williams combined to score three touchdowns in the Detroit Lions' 42-29 win over the Seattle Seahawks. Gibbs racked up 78 yards on 16 carries and found paydirt twice, while Williams notched two catches for 80 yards and a touchdown on a career-long 70-yard reception.
Washington running back Brian Robinson Jr. helped the Commanders to a third straight victory, posting 21 carries for 101 yards and a touchdown to go with three receptions for 12 yards in a win over the Arizona Cardinals. Sunday marked Robinson's second 100-plus yard performance this season. In Las Vegas, Jerry Jeudy caught a season-high six passes for 72 yards in the Cleveland Browns' matchup with the Raiders.
Packers' safety Xavier McKinney continued his terrific start to his tenure in Green Bay, recording four tackles, a pass breakup and another interception. McKinney's third quarter pick was his NFL-leading fourth of the season and his sixth interception in his last five games, dating back to last season. The veteran defensive back became the first NFL player to record an interception in each of his first four games with a new team since 1995.
Jonathan Allen and the Commanders' defense caused chaos all day against Arizona, with Allen totaling five tackles, a sack and one quarterback hit in the 42-14 road win. Jarran Reed did all he could in Seattle's loss to Detroit, making four tackles, including a sack, to go with a quarterback hit. Monday marked Reed's fourth straight game with a sack since returning to the Seahawks.
Henry To'oTo'o and the Houston Texans returned to the win column on Sunday afternoon, narrowly defeating the Jacksonville Jaguars. To'oTo'o's effort was crucial to Houston's success as the second-year linebacker totaled seven tackles, including four solo stops. Steelers' safety Minkah Fitzpatrick racked up a season-best nine tackles in Pittsburgh's first loss of the season.
