Milicevic, Nayar Advance to Doubles Draw Quarterfinals at ITA Southern Regional Championships

Klara Milicevic and Sara Nayar both tallied a total of three wins on the day – one doubles and two singles victories
AUBURN, Ala. – During the second day of the main draw competition at the ITA Southern Regional Championships, Alabama women's tennis' Klara Milicevic and Sara Nayar secured a win to earn in the doubles main draw quarterfinals.
The duo the Samford pairing of Emily Surcey and Sara Erenda, 8-4, becoming the first UA pairing to advance to the quarterfinals since the 2021 regional. Additionally, both Milicevic and Nayar picked up singles victories which propelled the two individuals into the Round of 16.
Match Notes
- Klara Milicevic and Sara Nayar started the day strong with a doubles win over Emily Surcey and Sara Erenda (Samford), 8-4
- Milicevic carried the momentum into her singles match to beat Enya Ratkic (UAB) in straight-sets, 6-0, 6-1
- With the win, Milicevic secured a spot in the Round of 16, but fell short to DJ Bennett (Auburn) in a hard-fought, two-set tiebreaker, 7-6(4), 7-6(3)
- Nayar also advanced to the Round of 16 after forcing a third set in her first singles match of the day, defeating Salome Fluri (McNeese), 2-6, 6-2, 6-1
- Nayar would fall just shy of a quarterfinal's appearance after dropping her round of 16 match to Angella Okutoyi (Auburn), 6-4, 6-2
