Alabama Claims First Conference Victory of the Season in 79-64 Win at Missouri

The Crimson Tide improves to 14-3 on the season and 1-1 in conference play
COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Alabama women's basketball team (14-3, 1-1 SEC) defeated the Missouri Tigers, 79-64, Sunday night inside Mizzou Arena. The Crimson Tide shot 50 percent from the three-point line (15-30) and 72.7 percent from the charity stripe to claim its first Southeastern Conference win of the year.
Alabama led for 36:22 of the game while Missouri only held a short lead for 31 seconds to cruise to the win. The Tide allowed the Tigers within five points in the final three minutes of regulation before scoring 12 of the game's next 14 points to score the 15-point win.
Sarah Ashlee Barker and Aaliyah Nye both scored a game-high 23 points on a combined 18-of-29 shooting, which included 10 total three pointers, seven of which came from Nye. Barker added game-highs of seven rebounds and four steals to go along with her four assists while Jessica Timmons followed close behind with 15 points, six rebounds and five assists.
The Tigers (9-6, 0-2 SEC) had five players finish in double figures, with Mama Dembele picking up a double-double with 10 points and 10 assists to go along with three rebounds.

"Truly proud of our team today. It was a phenomenal effort in a tough environment. Great crowd today, credit to Missouri for doing a great job. This is always a fun place to play, a terrific atmosphere and really appreciate their support of women's basketball.
"I'm really proud of our team. We had a tough opener and our response was phenomenal. We were consistent all night. I thought we got off to really good starts in the first and the third quarters. I am really proud of the way we shot the ball and decision making on both sides of the ball. We were able to get critical stops and make some big shots."

- Sarah Ashlee Barker started the contest shooting a perfect 6-6 from the floor, which included two three pointers
- Alabama's nine first half three-pointers is the most the Tide have scored in any half this season
- The Tide drained a season high 15 three-pointers
- Alabama shot 48 percent (28-58) from the floor, 50 percent (15-30) from beyond the arc and 73 percent (8-11) from the charity stripe
- In comparison, the Tigers shot 47 percent (25-53) from the field, 25 percent (5-20) from deep and 82 percent (9-11) from the stripe
- Nye scored 14 of her 23 points in the second half with Timmons also scoring nine of her 15 points in the latter half
How It Happened
- Alabama jumped out early, going 11-15 from the field, draining six threes, to take a five-point lead (27-22) into the second quarter
- Despite giving up a 10-0 run, which gave Missouri a two-point lead for its only lead of the contest, the Tide knotted the game up at 41-41 as the teams headed into the locker rooms
- Barker led all scoring at the half with 16 points
- UA left its shooting struggles from the second quarter behind and opened the third quarter hitting four of its first five shots from the floor which included three treys to take an 11-point lead before extending its lead to 13 points (60-47) headed into the final frame
- Missouri cut Alabama's lead to five points at the 3:13 mark before the Tide went on its game-ending run to seal the win
