
Alabama Women’s Tennis Sends Four to ITA All-American Championships

Anne Marie Hiser, Petra Sedlackova and Marqaux Maquet play Saturday, while Loudmilla Bencheikh open play Monday
CARY, N.C. –– Four Alabama women's tennis student-athletes being competition this weekend at the ITA All-American Championships in Cary, N.C. Anne Marie Hiser, Petra Sedlackova and Margaux Maquet will kick things off in the singles pre-qualifying round on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. CT, while No. 46 Loudmilla Bencheikh will play in the singles qualifying round on Monday.
All four will also compete in the doubles round. Hiser and Bencheikh are set to play in the doubles main draw, while Maquet and Sedlackova will open play in qualifying.
Tournament Format
- Pre-Qualifying: Sept. 30 – Oct. 1
- Qualifying: Oct. 2 – Oct. 3
- Main Draw: Oct. 4 – Oct. 8

ITA All-American Championships
- The tournament features 96 of the best singles players in the country, in addition to 48 of the best doubles pairings
- Singles matches will be best two out of three sets with no-ad scoring
- Pre-qualifying and qualifying doubles will play an eight-game pro set with no-ad scoring, tiebreak at seven games all
- Main draw will play two sets with a 10-point match tiebreak in lieu of a third set with no-ad scoring

Alabama concludes day one of the ITA All-American Championships with a pair of wins. Anne Marie Hiser and Margaux Maquet advance to the round of 64 after securing their singles wins.

Margaux Maquet (UA) def. Iva Zelic (Portland), 6-3, 7-6(7)
Valeria Ray (VU) def. Petra Sedlackova (UA), 7-5, 6-2
Hiser and Maquet will start the round of 64 on Sunday at 8 a.m. CT while Sedlackova will play in a consolation match at 3 p.m.

The Crimson Tide finished its run in the singles draw of the ITA All-American Championships and will begin competing in the doubles rounds.
Monday, October 2
Alabama battled on day three of the tournament, but fell short during all three matches.
