Alabama Concludes Play at the ITA All-American Championships

The Crimson Tide defeated five ranked opponents, including the eighth-ranked doubles pairing
CARY, N.C. –– Members of the Alabama women's tennis team concluded action at the ITA All-American Championships at Cary Tennis Park on Thursday. The Crimson Tide racked up five wins over ranked opponents during the tournament.
Alabama collected a pair of wins on opening day as Anne Marie Hiser and Margaux Maquet both secured their singles matches to advance to the round of 64. Hiser defeated No. 113 Mariya Polishchuk of Texas Tech (7-6(7), 1-6, 6-4), while Maquet beat Iva Zelic of Portland (6-3, 7-6(7)).
Maquet defeated the sixth-ranked ITA Freshman, Aysegul Mert of Georgia (7-6(7), 6-1) to move into the round of 32 before falling to Emily De Oliveira in three sets (6-2, 2-6, 4-6).
On day four of the tournament, No. 46 Loudmilla Bencheikh advanced to the consolation round of 16 after winning back-to-back matches, both over ranked opponents. Bencheikh defeated No. 79 Alina Scherbinina (Oklahoma), 6-2, 6-2 and No. 19 Carson Tanguilig (North Carolina), 6-3, 7-5.
The Crimson Tide's 20th-ranked doubles duo, Anne Marie Hiser and Loudmilla Bencheikh, took down the eighth-ranked Megan Heuser and Kate Duong of Illinois, 6-4, 7-5.
