2023-24 Season Gets Underway Tonight
Tonight marks the start of our 2023-24 athletics season as our seventh-ranked soccer team hosts DePaul at the Alabama Soccer Stadium at 7 p.m. Coming off its Women's College Cup appearance and SEC Regular Season Championship in 2022, Coach Wes Hart's squad returns 18 student-athletes including last year's NCAA assist leader in Felicia Knox and SEC Freshman of the Year Gianna Paul. For tonight's season opener, the team will have all of its 2022 trophies on display in the concourse for photo opportunities!
Volleyball in Exhibition Saturday
Our volleyball team will be in action Saturday in Tuscaloosa, taking on North Alabama in an exhibition match at 4 p.m. This will be our squad's lone tune-up before officially embarking on its 2023 campaign with the Crimson Tide Invitational next weekend at Foster Auditorium. Set to compete in the two-day tournament with the Tide is Mississippi Valley State, Saint Louis and Mercer. Season and single-match tickets, as well as mini plans, are on sale now and can be purchased online or by calling the Alabama Ticket Office at 205-348-BAMA (2262).
Nick at Noon Tickets on Sale Now
This year, we will have five Nick at Noon luncheons throughout the course of the home football season, and tickets are available now. Programming for the upcoming season will have a new, enhanced look, featuring a sit-down interview with head coach Nick Saban, hosted by Chris Stewart, as well as the opportunity to hear from a number of special guests on Fridays before select home football games. Tickets are $95 per person for each individual luncheon with proceeds benefiting Yea Alabama to help support Alabama student-athletes.
Wells Named to 2024 ABCA Hall of Fame Class
Congratulations to former baseball coach Jim Wells on being selected to the 2024 American Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame. Coach Wells compiled 625 wins during his 15 years leading the program, becoming our all-time winningest coach. He guided the Tide to three of our five College World Series appearances and won six SEC tournament championships, three SEC Western Division titles and two SEC regular season championships. A well-deserved honor for Coach Wells!
Getting it Done in the Classroom
In addition to our success in competition, we had much to celebrate with our academic successes as our NCAA academic progress rate numbers continue to be strong. All 21 of our teams scored well above the national standard with eight of our teams at a perfect 1,000 including men's basketball, men's and women's golf, men's and women's tennis, gymnastics, soccer and volleyball. We also had 83 student-athletes graduate during Spring Commencement and another 23 during Summer Commencement. Combined with the 25 graduates who earned degrees following the fall semester, the Crimson Tide saw 131 of its student-athletes take home diplomas during the 2022-23 academic year.
September 1 Tide Totals Deadline
The September 1 Tide Totals priority points calculation deadline is quickly approaching. You can support the education of our student-athletes while earning Tide Totals priority points by donating to the Crimson Tide Scholarship Fund (CTSF). The CTSF provides annual scholarship support for our student-athletes, offsetting the costs of tuition, educational fees, books, and room and board. Donors to the CTSF earn three Tide Totals points per $100 donated.
